Is your beer alive? If it’s from a cask, then chances are it is. Cask ale, or “real ale” as it’s sometimes referred to, contains active, living yeast that continues to ferment, allowing the beer to carbonate naturally as opposed to the standard keg process. It’s this natural process that really sets the flavor and consistency of cask ale apart from everything else.
It is almost time again for the annual Michigan Cask Ale Festival, which takes place May 9th at Ashley’s in Westland, MI. They work closely with brewers from across the country to get the best cask ales available. Many of these hand processed casks are one-of-a-kind beers. Featuring more than 30, the Michigan Craft Ale Festival is the right place to go if you’re interested in trying some living beer. This year the Festival also features a “cider” track of special craft ciders.
Untappd users can unlock a $5 discount to the festival by doing nothing more than enjoying a beer. Check-in to any beer within a 150 mile radius of Westland, MI and you might be lucky enough to earn this great promotion!
