5 of the Biggest Beer Releases of 2015

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler said it best: “Life’s a journey, not a destination.”

That same philosophy applies to the wonderful world of craft beer. While getting one’s hands on a coveted special-release beer feels like winning the lottery, just experiencing the release events themselves is enough to inspire many beer lovers to make great sacrifices in search of craft brewing’s top prizes.

“It’s like a right of passage, a badge of honor,” says Russian River Brewing’s Natalie Cilurzo about the two-week line that snakes through Santa Rosa, Calif., during the annual release of Pliny the Younger.

To earn your street cred as a specialty beer hound, chase down these highly-anticipated beer releases of 2015:

abraxusBarrel-Aged Abraxus

Who: Perennial Artisan Ales

When: Late Summer

Where: St. Louis, Missouri

The Beer: An 11 percent ABV imperial stout aged 12 months in Rittenhouse Rye barrels with cacao nibs, vanilla beans, ancho chiles and cinnamon sticks.

Limit: In 2014 it was two 750 ml bottles per person at the brewery, and one bottle for online lottery winners.

The Event: While details of this year’s release have yet to be finalized, the June 2014 event featured a first-come, first-served single-day release party at the brewery. Fans lined up outside the brewery for a bottle share, and once inside they enjoyed draughts of Barrel-Aged Abraxus and other unique brews like Peerennial’s Barrel-Aged 17 Mint Chocolate Stout. A limited amount of Abraxus also was released via an online lottery system.

Like several of his craft-brewer brethren across the U.S., Phil Wymore could not have foreseen the reaction his Barrel-Aged Abraxus would receive upon its first public release event in 2013. With a perfect 100 score on both BeerAdvocate and RateBeer, and a No. 4 ranking on BeerAdvocate’s Top 250 Beers of the world, Abraxus set Perennial Artisan Ales on the fast track toward beer-release stardom.

“We had no idea how to anticipate how many people would show up,” says Wymore, brewmaster and founder. “But after it started getting such high ratings and became such a high trade-value type of beer on a lot of lists, we knew that we needed to sort of change our game in 2014.”

Last year Perennial took steps to better organize the line for entering the brewery for the Barrel-Aged Abraxus release, and implemented an online lottery system for those unable to attend the release event. And while the odds for bottle scoring were trimmed by the rush of 10,000 entries, “at least people have a crack at it,” Wymore says.

The brewery bumped up production by 50 percent this year to meet the ravenous demands of Abraxus fans, who no doubt will again be lined up in advance, with thousands more poised over keyboards for an online shot at one of the beer world’s rare treasures.

darklordDark Lord

Who: 3 Floyds Brewing Co.

When: April 25

Where: Munster, Indiana

The Beer: A 13 percent ABV Russian-style imperial stout brewed with coffee, Mexican vanilla and Indian sugar.

Limit: “Probably three or four” 750 ml bottles per person.

The Event: Details of Dark Lord Day and ticket sales will be announced by St. Patrick’s Day. Co-founder Nick Floyd says the brewery plans to offer a general admission ticket and a “beer lover’s” ticket that will include the chance to purchase up to “probably three or four” 750 ml bottles of Dark Lord. There will be a “huge lineup” of musical acts and other variants of Dark Lord stout available.

Dark Lord Day is the most iconic single-day release event in the craft beer industry.

Last year about 10,000 Dark Lord diehards flocked to the brewery grounds, and this year – having purchased more property in the industrial park it calls home – 3 Floyds should be able to accommodate another 3,000 to 4,000, says company co-founder Nick Floyd.

When asked if 3 Floyds would ever consider expanding to a full weekend event, Floyd chuckles and says: “For one day it stops traffic for miles around. I don’t think we could do it two days without getting run out town.”

Dark Lord Day

This is the 12th year overall and 10th in bottles for Dark Lord, which the brewery bills as a “demonic” Russian-style imperial stout. For those fortunate enough to score a few bottles, Floyd recommends laying them down for a while.

“If I bought Dark Lord,” he says, “I wouldn’t drink it for probably two years.”

founderskbsKBS

Who: Founders Brewing Co.

When: March 9-14

Where: Grand Rapids, Michigan

The Beer: An 11.2 percent ABV imperial stout made with massive amounts of coffee and milk chocolate, cave-aged for one year in oak bourbon barrels.

Limit: Two 4-packs per ticket holder.

The Event: Founders will host a second annual KBS Week, featuring five consecutive bottle-release days at the brewery via an online, pre-ticketed reservation process on EventBrite. KBS also will flow on draft throughout the week at 15 select bars and restaurants in Grand Rapids (three each day). KBS Week will culminate with a Founders taproom release party where the beer will be poured all day.

For more information visit: KBSWeek.com

Tickets go on sale at 11 a.m. Feb. 14 at: EventBrite.com

Thanks to the popularity of the most sought-after bourbon-barrel-aged beer in the world, and the support of “Beer City USA” Grand Rapids, KBS Day became KBS Week in 2014.

“Having a few thousand people show up at the brewery is really quite taxing on our staff, who are doing their best to try to manage the crowds,” says Founders co-founder and president Dave Engbers. “As far as the release of the product itself, honestly our hand was forced a bit to turn it into a ticketed event. Spreading it out over a week really allows us to manage the whole release a lot better and all the folks have a heck of a lot better time.”

With the addition of KBS tappings at 15 locations around town, this year’s event is a shout-out to the ongoing support of Founders by local bars and restaurants, and gives legions of KBS fans from across the country and around the globe the chance to enjoy all of Beer City. Last year folks traveled from far and wide to attend KBS Week, including Europe and Australia.

“It’s just so much fun to see the beer enthusiast community come out in droves and support something like this,” Engbers says. “It’s honestly so humbling that we get to be a part of this, and it’s just fun to see the length that people will travel for beer.”

Engbers recalls that back in 2003 or 2004, when KBS was first packaged, Founders was using only 24 bourbon barrels compared to the 4,700 it is now filling with beer. He believes that makes Founders the largest bourbon barrel-aging brewery in the world.

Founders’ brewers utilize both young and old barrels, drawing unique characteristics from each that blend together into the harmonious nectar that is KBS. The barrels are stored in 40-degree former gypsum mines 85 feet beneath Grand Rapids for an average of 12 to 14 months.

But despite the aging process, Engbers strongly prefers drinking KBS fresh. “The chocolate and coffee notes,” he insists, “will continue to dissipate over time.”

plinyPliny the Younger

Who: Russian River Brewing Co.

When: Feb. 6-19

Where: Santa Rosa, California

The Beer: A 10.25 percent ABV triple IPA brewed with seven hop varieties.

Limit: Three 10-ounce drafts per person per day at the brewpub (no bottles or growlers).

The Event: For 14 consecutive days Russian River will pour Younger in the pub during normal operating hours until each day’s allotment runs out. Lines form outside the brewpub with an average wait time of eight to 12 hours.

For a list of rules to follow while in line and once inside the pub, and for more information on the event, visit: RussianRiverBrewing.com

As Russian River co-owner Natalie Cilurzo says, the Pliny the Younger release is not technically an event. “The line outside has become the event,” she says. “Once you’re inside, it’s pretty much business as usual, other than the fact that we have Pliny the Younger on tap.”

Oh, yeah: That beer. It’s on every beer lover’s must-have list, and pretty much every publication’s top-10 list of the world’s finest brews. Which is why, for two solid weeks, people stand in line for hours and hours – last year in the pouring rain – to sit in the brewpub and enjoy a couple glasses of the triple IPA.

A Sonoma County economic impact study a few years ago on the two-week release window found that those 14 days of Younger-mania contributed $2.3 million to the local economy. “We’re really proud of that,” Cilurzo says. “It’s really cool that this one beer from this one little brewery in northern California can do so much for the local economy. That’s something we don’t want to take lightly.”

Nor should Younger fans take the beer lightly. It’s a 10.25 percent ABV hop-head’s delight that Cilurzo’s husband and fellow co-owner, Vinnie, tweaks from year to year. “There’s a lot of malt used to make it boozy,” Natalie says, “but it’s not sweet at all. It’s deceptively dry and balanced and smooth, given the high alcohol content and the quantity of hops.”

Younger has never been bottled, and it’s not available in growlers. About half the beer’s production will be tapped at the brewpub and the other half distributed to bars and restaurants.

sexualchocolateSexual Chocolate

Who: Foothills Brewing Co.

When: Jan. 30-31

Where: Winston-Salem, North Carolina

The Beer: A 9.75 percent alcohol by volume (ABV) cocoa-infused imperial stout.

Limit: Six 22-ounce bottles per person.

The Event: Foothills will host a Bottle Share Pre-Release Party at 7 p.m. on January 30 in the brewery portion of the brewpub, during which Sexual Chocolate will be available on draft. The line to purchase Sexual Chocolate bottles will begin forming on the sidewalk outside the front door of the pub once it closes at 2 a.m. on January 31. The pub will re-open at 8 a.m. and bottle sales will commence at 9 a.m.

For more information on the event and wristband distribution, visit: blog.foothillsbrewing.com

Sexual Chocolate is a brilliant name, especially for a beer released right before Valentine’s Day, and it’s enhanced by the red-toned ‘70s retro label. However, Sexual Chocolate is much more than a clever marketing gimmick.

“I’ve been drinking craft beer for 20 years,” says Foothills marketing director Ray Goodrich, “and Sexual Chocolate is probably the only beer that has almost brought me to my knees. It’s a fantastic beer, but it’s ironic that the beer almost takes a back seat to the Sexual Chocolate community for the release weekend.”

Just like with Pliny the Younger, the line that forms outside Foothills on the last Friday night in January has become an event unto itself, with folks traveling from across the country to partake in the festivities.

“The pre-release party is really fun because it’s a huge bottle share,” Goodrich says. “We don’t sell tickets, and the only requirement to come is that you bring something to share with the group. It’s been hugely successful and it’s one of the most fun things about Sexual Chocolate weekend.”

Last year Foothills began auctioning off the first few spots in line with all proceeds donated to local charities, and the first one sold for $700.

Once inside the brewery, fans will be able to enjoy Sexual Chocolate on tap, lots of giveaways for the 10th annual release, and the chance to purchase bottles of Sexual Chocolate at a $15 price tag has remained unchanged since its debut a decade ago.

Heavy Seas Celebrates New Brew House and 20th Year

BALTIMORE, MD — On Friday, January 16, 2015, Senator Ben Cardin, using a cutlass sword, cut the ribbon to present the new Heavy Seas brew house. The Senator and Heavy Seas founder, Hugh Sisson, were joined by many guests including other political leaders, investors, bankers, media representatives, distributors, brewery employees, and friends and family. This ribbon cutting ceremony and reception also marked the 20th year for Heavy Seas Beer, formally known as Clipper City Brewing Company.

Also in celebration, a cannon was fired inside the brewery right after the ribbon cutting. The event continued with pints of Heavy Seas beers including the new year-round, CrossBones Session IPA, and the new seasonal, Deep Six English-style porter. The Heavy Seas Alehouse catered the reception with delicious appetizers including sausage sliders, crab dip with tater tots, beef chili, and their well-known seasoned nuts and popcorn.

The new brew house is now fully operating and taking the brewery from producing 200 barrels of beer a day to almost 500 barrels a day, which increases the production capacity by 250%. The term “brew house” refers to the equipment that is used to produce wort, which becomes beer during fermentation.

Since this event officially kicked off the start to Heavy Seas’ 20th year, stay tuned for more celebratory events throughout 2015.

Saint Arnold Brewing Reaches Beyond the Beer Aisle to Pair Beers with Bratwurst

Partners with Farmland Foods to launch beer-brats in time for the “Big Game”

HOUSTON, January 23, 2015 – The classics of football tailgating – beer and brats – are coming together just in time for the biggest game of the year. Saint Arnold Brewing Co. (www.saintarnold.com), the oldest craft brewery in Texas, has partnered with Farmland Foods to introduce Saint Arnold Amber Ale Bratwurst and Saint Arnold Santo Bratwurst. Both are rolling out to HEB and Central Market stores throughout Texas.

Saint Arnold Executive Chef Ryan Savoie traveled to Kansas City to test and refine the bratwurst recipes with Smithfield-Farmland, the largest pork producer in the United States. Saint Arnold provided Farmland with a broad range of different beers to test. They selected Saint Arnold Amber Ale and Santo because their respective flavors enhanced the flavor of the meat, delivering tender, meaty brats.

“When we decided to make these Saint Arnold brats, our focus was ensuring that the final product was something we were excited about,” said Brock Wagner, founder of Saint Arnold Brewing. “Rather than just send a couple of beers to Farmland, chef Ryan took an active role in working with their team in Kansas City to determine which brews would result in the best taste and experience. We are all very proud of how it turned out.”

Saint Arnold Beer Brats are made with high-quality USDA-inspected cuts of domestic pork and two of Saint Arnold’s most popular beers – shipped fresh from Texas. The brats also contain no MSG.

“We are excited to partner with Saint Arnold because their passion for brewing great craft beer is right in line with our passion for producing high-quality pork products,” said Tom Danneker, VP and GM Fresh Sausage with Smithfield Farmland. “Saint Arnold’s full-flavored beers are a great match for Farmland’s tender, high quality brats – both as an ingredient and as an accompanying beverage!”

Saint Arnold Amber Ale features a rich, malty body with a pleasant caramel character, producing an all-around flavorful brat. The brewery’s Santo invented the concept of a black Kölsch, with a dark malt flavor, resulting in a brat with a hint of roast.

Saint Arnold has long encouraged cooks to experiment with craft beer as an ingredient in their cooking. After all, the variety of flavors among craft beers makes it an ideal candidate for a cooking liquid, providing similar cooking properties to wine, but with an even larger array of flavors. On Sunday, Saint Arnold will host its seventh annual One Pot Showdown, a cook-off that challenges teams to create recipes using a single pot and Saint Arnold beer as an ingredient. The sold out event starts at 1 p.m.

Virginia is now home to over 100 craft breweries

Virginia is now home to over 100 craft breweries

RICHMOND, VA –The Virginia Craft Brewers Guild announced today that the Commonwealth is now home to over 100 craft breweries. This important milestone was celebrated at the Guild’s annual meeting and Craft Beer Caucus legislative reception, attended by over 150 brewers and legislators from around the Commonwealth.

“100 craft breweries is a huge milestone for Virginia,” said Cassidy Rasnick of the Virginia Craft Brewers Guild, an affiliate of the Virginia Manufacturers Association. “We have seen exponential growth in the last few years, not only in the number of craft breweries, but also in the quality of the beer being produced and the cooperation and collaboration in the industry.”

The number of craft breweries is calculated from the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control’s report on brewery licensees, available on their website.

Growth of the craft beer industry has exploded in the last few years. The Guild attributes some of the growth to the passage of SB604 in 2012. The legislation, also known as the tasting room bill and sponsored by Senator Jeffrey McWaters and Delegate Jennifer McClellan, allowed breweries to sell their products for on-premise consumption. Since the law went into effect in 2012, the number of craft breweries in the Commonwealth has more than doubled. The craft beer industry now supports over 8,000 jobs in the Commonwealth and has a $623 million economic impact on the state.

The 100th craft brewery licensed in Virginia is Garden Grove Brewing Company, expected to open in Richmond in February.

“We are extremely excited to be opening the 100th craft brewery in the Commonwealth,” said Ryan Mitchell, owner of Garden Grove Brewing Company. “We can’t wait to share our unique and unforgettable line up of beers.”

Escape Brewing Company Launches Distribution

Escape Brewing Company is located in Trinity, FL. Founded by John McGregor and Matt Thompson, their passion for craft beer and creativity drove their desire to share Escape Brewing Company hand crafted ales with the Tampa Bay community.

Both avid home brewers for years, John and Matt initially began brewing beer in their garage as a way to “Escape” from their daily jobs in ‘Corporate America’. This hobby quickly grew from a passion to an obsession.

After many months of planning, John and Matt decided to begin their adventure of opening their own brewery. The buildout commenced in January 2014. The tasting room opened in early October 2014. Escape Brewing Company is a nano-brewery producing hand crafted ales on a 3 barrel brew system with four 3 barrel fermenters.

In the tasting room you will find a few hoppy beers such as: Diversion IPA and Indiscretion Double IPA; High Fen, a robust porter fermented with a belgian yeast; a traditional brown ale, Brown Chicken Brown Cow; and an easy drinking wheat ale, Goofy Footed. Matt Thompson said, “There is a beer on tap for most palates”. Escape Brewing Company currently has 6 – 8 of their own beers on tap and a few guest taps from other local craft breweries.

The brewery and tasting room is 1,200 sq/ft. The industrial, urban decor coupled with open ceilings and dark stained wood makes you feel comfortable enough to hang out and have a few pints. Currently, the tasting room is open four nights a week offering full beers and growlers to go.

As business owners, they both knew picking the right distributor was very important to their business. John McGregor explained “We chose Brown Distributing not only for their focus on craft beer, but for their management and sales team passion and desire to support local craft breweries”.

Brass Tap in Trinity will be hosting the Escape Brewing Company launch party on Thursday February 5th from 7pm – 9pm. They will have several of their beers on tap for you enjoy.

What’s your current position at your brewery, and how did you get started in the craft brewing industry? Rinn Duin Brewing Celebrates their First Year in Business with an Anniversary Event and the Release of its 1st Anniversary Ale

Toms River, NJ: Time flies when you’re having fun and selling beer for the first time. Rinn Duin Brewery will celebrate its first anniversary on January 24, nearly one year since they opened to the public on January 23, 2014. In honor of the occasion, 1st Anniversary Ale: Blackthorn, will be on draft alongside their current tap list.

Blackthorn pays tribute to the brewery’s original and legal name (Blackthorn Brewing, LLC), which changed to Rinn Duin Brewing in April 2013 due to a trademark conflict. Blackthorn 1st Anniversary Ale is an unorthodox approach to a Belgian-style Dubbel. With our heritage in mind, this ale is crafted with the finest UK malts, Irish yeast, & dark Belgian candi sugar, which lends a striking plum aroma. Prominent flavors of dark fruit and raisin are complimented by a lingering pear finish.

To commemorate the brewery’s first Anniversary, 365 Blackthorn bottles (22 oz.) will be available in three varieties. Two of the three varieties are barrel aged; one in a red zinfandel wine barrel (supplied by our neighbors Bacchus Wine Making Club), and one in a 20-year-aged rum barrel. Limit 3 bottles per person, 1 of each variety. The barrel aged versions will also be on draft.

Make sure to bring a business card for the “fish bowl” raffle. You could win gift cards or swag from local restaurants and bars that serve Rinn Duin. The celebration begins at 2:00 pm at the brewery, located at 1540 Rt 37 W, Toms River, NJ 08755.

For addition information and updates, visit Rinn Duin’s blog.

Saint Arnold Brewing Company Reports Record Production, Plans for Cans

Achieves Record Production of 66,587 Barrels, Prepares to Start Canning in 2015

HOUSTON, January 16, 2015 – Saint Arnold Brewing Co., the oldest craft brewery in Texas, today reported record shipments of more than 66,000 barrels of beer in 2014 while also unveiling plans to start packaging two of its year-round beers in cans next month.

Saint Arnold’s year-end report on production revealed:

  • 2014 was the fourth consecutive year that Saint Arnold’s production has grown by more than eight thousand barrels from the previous year, representing a 14 percent year-over-year increase.

  • While it took the brewery 16 years to reach the 30,000 barrel milestone for the first time, it has taken just four years to increase production by another 35,000 barrels.

  • When combined, Saint Arnold’s rotation of seasonal beers was the brewery’s top seller, with Saint Arnold Fancy Lawnmower Beer and Santo rounding out the top three.

  • Saint Arnold Ale Wagger (formerly Saint Arnold Brown Ale) was the brewery’s fastest growing beer, posting a 32 percent increase in production for the year and a 90 percent increase since the beer was renamed and aligned with animal welfare causes.

“We celebrated our 20th anniversary year by releasing 10 new beers, hosting some epic parties and raising over $250,000 for community organizations,” said Brock Wagner, founder/brewer of Saint Arnold Brewing. “We have several new beers in the pipeline for 2015 and are currently busy putting together our canning line – it’s like playing with an erector set for grown-ups. We are focused on continuing to foster the community of craft beer where Saint Arnold is sold.”

Saint Arnold is currently installing an impressive new canning line manufactured by CFT Packaging USA. The new system, which is expected to be online by mid-to-late February, features a 20-head filler that can package up to 160 cans per minute, and a depalletizer from Ska Fabricating. The brewery plans to introduce Saint Arnold Fancy Lawnmower Beer and Santo in cans before the end of February with Saint Arnold Summer Pils to follow in April.

“We have been pushed by our customers to offer our beers in cans,” said Wagner. “We plan to package our top sellers, and possibly add a can-only beer before the end of 2015.”

New Belgium Brewing’s New Year-Round Release, Slow Ride Session IPA, Invites You to Kick Back and #GoSlowMo

Ft. Collins, Colo., January 12, 2015 – New Belgium Brewing knows kicking back and relaxing with a session beer is about as good as it gets and the brewery’s new year-round release, Slow Ride Session IPA, offers the perfect easygoing companion. This IPA satisfies any hop lover’s craving while coming in at a sessionable 4.5 percent ABV and 40 IBUs. Slow Ride is available in bottles and on draft across New Belgium markets and it will debut in cans this March.

Slow Ride starts with a pour of sheened gold and white, fluffy foam. A blend of eight hop varieties twist together fruity scents of lemon, peach, lime and grapefruit for a tropical aroma. Target, Cascade, Nelson Sauvin and Centennial hops are added to the boil and Mosaic, Simcoe, Amarillo and Citra are featured in the dry hop process. Pale and caramel malts balance a sweet, yet clean, start with a hoppy bitterness in the back.

“The fun part about making this beer was balancing eight different hop strains into something smooth, bold and sessionable,” said New Belgium Assistant Brewmaster, Grady Hull. “We pitch Cascade, Target, Nelson Sauvin and Centennial hops in the kettle and we dry hop with Mosaic, Simcoe, Amarillo and Citra. It’s amazingly flavorful, and it still comes in at 4.5% abv.”

To encourage people to slow it all down, starting in February, New Belgium will celebrate Slow Ride by highlighting slow motion antics of its faithful beer fans. Those who submit videos of their IPA adventures in slow motion via Twitter, Vine, Instagram and Facebook using #GoSlowMo will have a chance to win New Belgium swag and ultimate bragging rights. Don’t have slow motion camera capabilities? Don’t worry, go ahead and act it out. Fans can also win prizes signing up for New Belgium’s Grand Cru Rewards program at http://ift.tt/1A9eLiW. Introducing Prairie Artisan Ales / Jester King Natural Union

We’re very excited to announce that, when our tasting room opens at 4pm on Friday, January 16th, we’ll be debuting Natural Union — our collaboration with Prairie Artisan Ales! We’ve long felt a strong kinship with Prairie because of their commitment to artisan brewing principles, their geographical closeness, their quirky, amazingly clever artwork, and the fact that they’re genuinely good people. Having Chase Healey of Prairie come to Jester King back in August of 2014 to make a beer with us was a great honor and a lot of fun. We’re so pleased to share the results of our collaborative effort!

Our motivation behind the beer was to highlight our similar brewing philosophies, which incorporate locally sourced ingredients and mixed culture fermentation. Chase brought rosemary grown in a garden near his Oklahoma brewery to Jester King, and Jester King Head Brewer Garrett Crowell picked lemon bee-balm growing in a pasture near the brewery for the beer. These two ingredients, native to our respective locations, were added to the boil, along with a healthy dose of Nelson Sauvin hops. The wort was then fermented in oak barrels for three months with Jester King’s unique mixed culture of microorganisms consisting of brewer’s yeast and native yeast and bacteria cultured from the air and wildflowers around the brewery.

Natural Union was brewed with Hill Country well water, malted barely, Texas-grown raw wheat, raw sugar, hops, rosemary, and lemon bee-balm, and fermented in oak barrels with Jester King’s mixed culture, as described above. It is 7.1% alcohol by volume, 42 IBU, and has a finishing gravity of 1.002 (0.5 degrees Plato). The label art for Natural Union, which pictures Garrett Crowell with a basket of lemon bee-balm and Chase Healey with a handful of rosemary, was a collaborative effort between Colin Healey of Prairie and Josh Cockrell of Jester King.

We’re excited that Chase Healey himself will be joining us at Jester King on Saturday, January 17th to celebrate the release! It will be a very special Saturday for us, because in addition to Chase, we’ll also be joined at Jester King by Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø of Evil Twin Brewing for the release of World’s Worst Twin the very same day. Having two truly world-class brewers onsite at Jester King for the release of their two respective collaboration beers is a wonderful thrill and honor for us.

Natural Union will be available by the glass and in bottles to go (750ml, $14) at Jester King starting at 4pm on Friday, January 16th. Only about 900 bottles will be available, which will be sold exclusively at Jester King with a bottle limit of one per customer per day. Natural Union glassware, pictured below, will also be available for purchase at the release.

While Chase and Jeppe are in Texas, we have some special events planned. We’ll be doing a six-course Prairie/Evil Twin/Jester King beer dinner at Hot Joy in San Antonio at 6pm on Sunday, January 18th! The dinner will feature pairings with Natural Union, World’s Worst Twin, Jester King Colour Five and Figlet, as well as some very special, rare beers from Evil Twin and Prairie. The beer dinner is $85 per person, and reservations can be made by e-mailing info@hotjoysa.com with the subject line “Beer Dinner.” We’ll also have a special coffee, beer, tea, and pastry pairing at 10:30am on Sunday, January 18th at Wright Bros. Brew & Brew in Austin. Tickets go on sale Monday, January 12th at noon and can be purchased HERE .
