Colorado-based non-profit to be beneficiary of Denver Beer Co.’s community outreach and charitable giving for 2016.
Denver, Colo. (Feb. 24, 2016) – Denver Beer Co. today announced that it has selected First Descents as the brewery’s official charity partner for 2016. This year, for the first time, the Denver craft brewery has formalized its charitable giving program and will work exclusively with one Colorado-based non-profit organization for a 12 month term. First Descents was selected from a pool of 68 applicants to be Denver Beer Co.’s first official charity partner.
First Descents is a non-profit organization based in Denver, Colo. which offers young adults (ages 18-39) impacted by cancer a free outdoor adventure experience designed to empower them to climb, paddle and surf beyond their diagnosis, defy their cancer, reclaim their lives and connect with others doing the same. During the First Descents experience, young adult survivors and fighters are empowered through conquering legitimate outdoor challenges to push their limits and face their fears, and by doing so, they are able to regain the confidence and self-efficacy lost to cancer.
“We are so excited to work with First Descents as our charity partner for the year,” stated Denver Beer Co. co-founder Charlie Berger. “This organization really embodies the spirit of Colorado and is doing amazing work utilizing outdoor adventures to help young adult cancer survivors. At Denver Beer Co. we believe life is fun and that every day should include a little adventure and fresh air. We are thrilled to work with an organization that can bring this sense of joy for the outdoors to folks who have faced immense challenges in life.”
Denver Beer Co.’s charity partner program, which is open to any tax-exempt non-profit organization headquartered in the state of Colorado, was created to make a significant impact in the community through joint fundraising efforts, public awareness, and service. Through the 12-month term of the partnership, Denver Beer Co. will donate proceeds from two major festivals or events, provide free event space for First Descents’ fundraisers or celebrations, brew and package a limited-release 22 oz. bomber with a custom label for the organization, donate beer to First Descents’ fundraisers, events, and galas, provide volunteers, and promote the organization through various publicity campaigns throughout the year.
“Denver Beer Co. has very quickly become one of the go-to gathering spots for the young Denver community,” stated Sarah Hubbard, Director of Marketing for First Descents. “This partnership is an amazing step to raising awareness for First Descents programming here in Denver as well as taking our Out Living It mantra to a larger audience. Beyond that, the team at Denver Beer Co. shares our passion for the mission and our passion for having a great time. We are thrilled to have been chosen.”
Each year Denver Beer Co. will open the application process to all Colorado-based non-profit organizations to become a charity partner for the following calendar year. Denver Beer Co was founded in 2011 and has two breweries including a taproom and beergarden on Platte Street in downtown Denver, and a production brewery, Canworks, in Denver’s Sunnyside neighborhood which focuses primarily on the brewing, canning, and bottling of beer for distribution.
