South Florida Beer Week Recap - via Due South Brewing

Weeks like this remind us why we got into the beer business in the first place. So many great beers and so many great people. The love we saw throughout South Florida this past week was really incredible, from the bars & restaurants to the dedicated craft beer fans – thank you all for supporting your local breweries!

Due South Brewing Co. was a part of many of events at the brewery and around South Florida for South Florida Beer Week 2016 (1/23 – 1/30/16).

We kicked off the week with our annual Trench Day celebration when Mariana Trench is tapped and we have a celebration to mark the special, once a year occasion. The brewery was closed to the public and the sold out crowd of 300 joined us for a festival with dozens of special beers, half brewed by Due South and half from other breweries around the state.

Trench Day was a fun day for everyone, visitors and Due South staff alike!

Thank you to the following establishments who included Due South spotlights in your special events to celebrate South Florida Beer Week 2016: World of Beer, Miami – Total Wine, Boynton – The Mack House – Dixie Grill & Bar – Tipsy Salon Bar, Boynton – The Social House, Lake Worth – Tap 42, Boca – Das Biergarten – The Blind Monk – Riverside Market South.

Our friends at Dixie Grill & Bar offered a Due South sampler which included a super rare keg of Barrel Aged Trench from 2015 and they created a slider sampler which paired with it perfectly.

While South Florida Beer Week is about beer and friends, it’s also about charity with many events benefiting important causes. Our Beer & Cookie Pairing on Wednesday was a huge success for raising money for Girl Scout Troop #20158. We had planned for about 100 people, but instead over 400 of you showed up on a rainy Wednesday. And despite the line (our apologies, we didn’t expect that kind of crowd) you wonderful people came and drank with us and together, we bought 237 boxes of cookies. Plus we donated $1 for each cookie sampler sold, which was another $193 that went to the Girl Scouts. All we can say is “wow!” you guys like your cookies!

The week finished up with one of our favorite festivals all year, the Jupiter Craft Brewers Festival. This event is a chance for us to say “hi” to our beer friends, old and new, and share some of our core beers along with some special releases, all while helping to benefit local charities. Attendees at this year’s festival enjoyed our Category 5, Caramel Cream Ale, Mexican Standoff, Saigon Blonde, as well as our new offering, Silky Johnson Chocolate Peanut Butter Stout.

South Florida Beer Week 2016 was amazing. Really! You guys rock! We can’t say it enough – thanks for supporting your local breweries!
